Hands-On Video & Film Production Training |
Video & Film Production Training |
The Video & Film Production (VFP) career training program is 48 weeks (twelve-months) in length and is designed for individuals considering a career in the video, film, television, or other closely related industries.
The program allows students to develop professional skills in video, film, and television pre-production, production, and post-production. Students will also develop an understanding of the wide range of business aspects within the industry.
Columbia Academy Video & Film Production students do the actual jobs done by today's video, film, and TV professionals. Through this unique educational approach, graduates are not only trained but gain valuable practical experience.
The Video & Film Production program is modeled after a working production company. You join ‘the company’ at the entry-level position of Intern, just as you might at an actual production company. You will then work through two modules of intensive, Hands-On skills training in production and post production, developing your fundamental skills.
At the end of your second module you will choose your specialty training stream, either:
You will spend the remaining ten months of the program concentrating on your chosen field of studies in order to develop extensive, marketable skills in that area. Within each stream, you’ll advance through specific four job categories, learning new skills and enhancing others at each level.

Digital Video & Film Production and Editing |
As video, film, and television production is a collaborative field, you will learn to function as a member of an integrated production team on a wide variety of projects. Through this process, you learn not only the skills required for positions in the production field, but also develop professional standards and attitudes towards your work.
You will be a part of six class projects during your VFP term:
If time permits, you may also submit personal projects for consideration. You may also gain valuable experience working on other students’ or client projects. At the end of the term, you will have a killer demo real containing at least six completed projects, plus any others you may work on worked in Video & Film Production.
Video & Film Production grads are automatically considered Associates of the Video & Film Production program at Columbia Academy. We exchange information with our broad network of Video & Film Production Associates via newsletters, e-mail, phone, or arrange follow up meetings to advise on employment opportunities, post-graduate projects, or to gain valuable information on industry trends.
