The Modular Approach

Columbia Academy has adopted the Modular Approach to instruction. Under this model, the entire course content is divided into distinct ‘modules’ of instructional material. The order in which these modules are delivered is not important. All students will receive all of the course material, regardless of when they choose to begin their studies.

Why Do We Use The Modular Approach?

1. Less students graduate at one time. 
   One major benefit to using the Modular Approach to instruction is that a smaller numbers of students graduate every month, as opposed to a traditional semester-based program where many students graduate at the same time. Having fewer students graduating each month means that there will be less competition during the job search process.
   
   
2. It mirrors “real world” work experience. 
   Another plus to the Modular Approach is that there are always more experienced senior students in the program at any given time of the year. This is particularly beneficial when outside parties bring projects into the school. The more experienced students get to take leadership roles on such projects while newer students can develop into these roles more slowly, mirroring how employees are brought along in actual employment situations.
   
   
3. Grads are always available when employers call. 
   Using the Modular Approach means that when employers call the school looking to hire, Columbia Academy has graduating students available on a monthly basis. In semester-based institutions, employers may have to wait several months for certain graduation periods to occur – and employers won’t wait.
