What’s a recording and sound design program without great instructors?

At Columbia Academy, we take pride in the fact that our RSD instructors are recording professionals, producers, and musicians themselves, each with years of practical music recording and post-production experience behind them.
 

Jeremy Butler, RSD Post-Production Instructor, has worked on a wide variety of post-production projects, including over 100 animations, five Sony PlayStation titles, and many short films, documentaries, commercials and feature films. Jeremy was a sound designer and editor on the award-winning feature-length horror film, Savage Island. Jeremy plays bass for the Vancouver, B.C. band, Simian Special.

Harland Giesbrecht, RSD Recording Instructor, is a multi-instrumentalist, performing live since the age of ten. Harland has been recording almost that long as well, so he’s developed some serious skills as an engineer, producer, arranger, and programmer. An accomplished songwriter, Harland has won a couple of songwriting contests which allowed him the opportunity to work with some top notch songwriters.

Cody Aalo Guha, RSD Electronic Music Production Instructor, has produced and engineered five of his own albums as well as a number of others for top Vancouver-based hip-hop and rap artists.  Cody’s expertise in Reason® and Pro Tools® make him a valuable addition to Columbia Academy’s Recording & Sound Design program.

Kyhan Smith, RSD Recording Instructor, has been creating music and taking it to the people of Europe and Canada for the past 14 years. Kyhan brings a wide range of skills to Columbia Academy as an engineer, mixer, promoter, producer and arranger.  He currently runs his own home studio and also records and mixes for others at major Vancouver, B.C. studios.
