Admissions Policy

To qualify for Columbia Academy training, an applicant must have high school graduation or be at least 19 years of age.

All applicants require a personal interview with the Registrar, either in person or on the phone.

All applicants to Columbia Academy must write an entrance exam covering the areas of vocabulary, grammar, general knowledge, reading, comprehension and logic and pass with a minimum 65%.

Broadcast Performing Arts program applicants are required to do a voice announcing audition and pass with a minimum 60%.

ESL applicants are required to have achieved a score of 213 or higher on a computer-based TOEFL test. Equivalent proof of proficiency in the English language may be considered.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand North American English as it is used in college and university settings. Please visit the TOEFL website for more information.

To qualify for Columbia Academy training, an applicant must have high school graduation or be at least 19 years of age. Under 19 years of age needs parental or custodial consent. Minimum age for consideration for admission to Columbia Academy is 17.

Admissions Procedure

Following your successful personal interview with the Columbia Academy Registrar, you will receive a detailed course curriculum guide.

You will then be required to complete a 'Personal Information Form' and any testing which may be applicable. A copy of your high school transcripts or valid identification indicating your date of birth is also required. Two emergency next of kin contacts for you must be provided.

The Columbia Academy Enrollment Form must be read and signed by you.

Two weeks after you begin your course of studies, you will be given a 'Student Performance Evaluation' during which, Instructors in your division will evaluate your performance. This is to determine your suitability in the program. If it is deemed that you are not appropriately placed, Columbia Academy will counsel you on available options, which may include withdrawing from the program.
