Where is Columbia Academy located?
Columbia Academy is located in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. For details please see Location.
Is Columbia Academy an accredited school?
Yes, Columbia Academy is accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia and is a member of the Better Business Bureau. This means that students may apply for student loan funding to attend Columbia Academy.
When is the next course start date?
Our Modular Approach allows for Monthly Start dates. For details please see Course Start Dates.
How long is the course?
The Broadcast Performing Arts program is 10 months. The Recording & Sound Design program is 11 months. The Video & Film Production program is 12 months. Convenient 4-hour course days run Monday through Friday. You can choose to attend either mornings; 9am to 1pm or afternoons; 1pm to 5pm (subject to availability). In the case of Broadcast Performing Arts, you may also attend 6pm to 10pm.
What certification is awarded upon successful completion of the program?
Graduates completing all course requirements receive a diploma.
What about accommodations for out of town students?
There is no on-campus housing at Columbia Academy. Students moving from other centres to attend Columbia Academy make their own accommodation arrangements. For details please see Accommodations.
Does Columbia Academy accept International students?
Absolutely! Provided the student's English is at least at an intermediate level. For details please see How To Apply > International Students.

What about text books and supplies?
Your tuition includes all books, manuals and applicable recording supplies. However, you are responsible for the purchase of a pair of quality audio headphones for your own use and Columbia Academy will provide students with a current price list from various local sources. Headphone prices will range from approximately $35.00 to $200.00 (CAD). The care and upkeep of the audio headphones is the responsibility of the individual student.
Though not mandatory, many students in the Recording & Sound Design program and the Video & Film Production program find it very beneficial to purchase a firewire hard disc drive. This external drive ensures students that their projects are stored safely and can be accessed quickly. Columbia Academy will provide students with specifications and a current price list from various local sources.
