Students Training in the CA Broadcast Station

The two Columbia Academy Radio Stations are closed-circuit, in-house simulations of small to major market broadcasting stations which feature:

• MediaTouch Music Automation
• Burli News Center
• Studer & Mackie equipped Production Studios
• Remote links
• Copywriting Departments
• News/Sports Departments
• Features Development
• Computer Work Stations

Each student comes to Columbia Academy with their own preferences for a future in the broadcast industry -- some want to be radio personalities (DJs), some are intrigued with broadcast journalism; working in a station news department, and some are interested in sports.  You will work in these areas but also in all the other areas in station operations.

As a Columbia Academy Broadcast Performing Arts grad, you’ll be as competent on the air doing a music show, as in doing the news or sports, or even creating program logs.  It's this well-rounded experience that provides a stronger appeal when it comes to landing that first broadcasting job.

Under the guidance of Columbia Academy's Broadcast Performing Arts instructors, your Hands-On training begins here.  Right from Day One you’ll be working with the rest of the station team on:

• On-Air Delivery
• Commercial Copywriting
• Broadcast Journalism
• Operation of Broadcast Programming Software
• Audio Production & Digital Editing
• Interviewing
• Research
• Conducting Commercial Remotes
• Broadcast Station Administration
• Developing and Presenting Feature Programming
• Working Within a Team Environment
