Academy Awards

Every year, Columbia Academy recognizes students who have excelled in their studies at the Columbia Academy Outstanding Achievement Awards, more fondly known as the (Columbia) Academy Awards.

Awards are presented in each of the school’s divisions: Broadcast Performing Arts, Recording & Sound Design, and Video & Film Production.  To be eligible, students must graduate with a minimum 80% course average and 80% attendance.

Broadcast Performing Arts

Copywriter of the Year Sponsored by Awarded to the student who consistently displays creative excellence in copywriting. This award recognizes the individual who can think 'outside the box' while still meeting client expectations.	Newscaster of the Year Sponsored by Awarded for outstanding achievement in Broadcast Journalism. This student not only displays excellent writing and announcing skills, but has a gift for storytelling.	On-Air Personality of the Year Sponsored by Awarded for outstanding achievement as an On-Air host. This award goes to the student who is not only a gifted announcer, but truly understands 'theatre of the mind'.
Producer of the Year Sponsored by Awarded for creative and technical excellence in commercial production. This award recognizes that rare individual who can be both creative and productive without sacrificing quality.	Sportscaster of the Year Sponsored by Awarded for outstanding achievement in Sports Broadcasting. This individual is not only a gifted sports writer and announcer, but also someone who can truly bring home the excitement of the game.

Video & Film Production

Outstanding Overall Producer Sponsored by Awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the instructor, best demonstrates advanced abilities in pre-production, production, and post-production on multiple projects.

Outstanding Single Project Producer Sponsored by Awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the instructors, produced the most outstanding single video project of the year.

Outstanding Video Editor Sponsored by Awarded to the student who best demonstrates creativity, originality and advanced techniques in non-linear video editing.

Recording & Sound Design

Audio Engineer of The Year Sponsored by Awarded to the student who most successfully met the creative, artistic and technical challenges associated with audio engineering in either post-production or music.

Audio Student of The Year Sponsored by Awarded to the student who has shown outstanding development while at Columbia Academy. This individual has shown exceptional devotion to their studies in both the studio and computer labs.
